600 West End Avenue Penthouse
Built on top of a 12-story turn of the century residential structure, this 2,000 square foot penthouse evokes the comforts of suburban living on a Manhattan rooftop. Though the rooms are small, terraces adjacent to each bedroom and the major living spaces make the interior spaces seem much larger. The house plan and section are organized around a central core formed by a chimney and spiral stair. The living, dining and kitchen areas were open to each other, making this seem like a downtown loft. Multiple clever means of storage were employed, inspired by the owners boating experiences.
