In 1985 we built a 1200 square foot vacation house, for the Boyer family. 20 years later there were multiple grandchildren and more space was needed. The initial concept for the house in 1985 was a wedge, the tall end facing Frenchman’s Bay but twisted so two facades were afforded views of the bay. The new addition fans out from the wedge, using the same slope and creating a courtyard on the uphill side. The addition, larger than the original house, houses a first floor master bedroom suite including his and hers studies and dressing rooms, a large master bath and downstairs exercise room and entry. A landscape ravines separates the house from the downhill slope of the hill. A bridge connects the house to the parking side and doubles as handicap access in case needed.
